National Chamber Winds

The National Chamber Winds is a professional chamber ensemble based in Washington D.C.  The ensemble was founded in 2017 by Robert J. Ambrose, Daniel Bowlds and Sarah Schram-Borg.  Ambrose and Schram-Borg had attended Northwestern University's School of Music together nearly two decades earlier.  Scharm-Borg and Bowlds were (and are) member of the United States Army Field Band.  In 2016, Ambrose was invited to serve as a guest conductor with the Field Band.  While on tour Ambrose reconnected with Schram-Borg and met and immediately bonded with Bowlds.

After the tour, Ambrose contacted Bowlds and Schram-Borg and proposed creating a chamber wind ensemble for "one concert, just to see what would happen."  Within six months they had recruited many of the finest musicians in the area and on May 6, 2017 the National Chamber Winds performed their inaugural concert to a large, enthusiastic audience.  Following the performance, the musicians voted unanimously to continue making music together.
